8 things about men & sex

A widespread prejudice says that sex for men is like pizza: even if it's bad, it's good. Urologist and Harvard professor Abraham Morgenthaler proves that stereotypical statements like this don't really hold up in reality. In his new book "Why Men Fake It: The Totally Unexpected Truth About Men and Sex", the doctor tells stories from the rich fund of his more than 25 years of professional experience and unearths some extremely interesting facts that you definitely wouldn't have expected. In the following article, we would like to introduce you to the eight most interesting key facts that will make you look at men with completely different eyes.

Fact 1 - Men can fake orgasms - and they do

Are you surprised? Did you think that we women are the only ones who manage to fake our orgasms for a variety of reasons? Quite the opposite, because as Morgenthaler reports in his book from his own experience, there are no fewer men who fake an orgasm for fear of disappointing their partner. It is therefore quite likely that you have been faked an orgasm before. In any case, it's difficult to prove the opposite, especially if you use condoms, because ejaculation is not always obvious evidence.

Fact 2 - A man's orgasm does not always lead to ejaculation

To follow on from point 1, it should also be mentioned that a man's orgasm does not necessarily have to be associated with ejaculation. Morgenthaler confirms this and explains that orgasms without ejaculation primarily occur in men who suffer from diabetes. This is due to the fact that the bladder entrance does not always function, which means that the seminal fluid flows back into the bladder and is then excreted during urination after sex. According to the doctor, the lack of ejaculation can also be caused by prostate problems and various tantra practices. However, the latter has not been empirically proven.

Fact 3 - Men fake an orgasm for the same reason as women

Men don't fake orgasms out of malice, but for the same reason that we women do. Even if it seems impossible, many men are also familiar with the problem of not experiencing an orgasm during sex and faking it so as not to disappoint their partner. Since faking it is never a good idea, this practice should not be continued permanently, but the causes should be investigated. Often it is the intake of certain medication or, even more simply, the lack of desire that prevents a real orgasm.

Fact 4 - Even young men sometimes have erection problems

It may come as a surprise, but it's not just the 40-plus generation that uses little blue pills to help them achieve more stamina. According to Abraham Morgenthaler, a large proportion of young men also have major problems achieving a permanent erection. Another common problem, especially among young men, is premature ejaculation after just a few minutes, which according to recent study results affects around 20 percent of all men.

Fact 5 - Men pay more attention to your well-being than theirs

A sex myth that is still widespread today is that men are always a bit stubborn in bed and only have their own pleasure in mind. Contrary to this antiquated way of thinking, however, many men are much more focused on the well-being of their partner than we would initially like to believe.

Fact 6 - Many men are very sensitive about their "performance" in bed

Sex is always associated with a lot of psychology, which has a significant impact on men and women. As a result, it should come as no surprise to us women that we are not the only ones who constantly rack our brains over whether we were good in bed. This question, in combination with the associated uncertainty, can also make men tense up about their sexual behavior. As Abraham Morgenthaler reports in his book, actually thoughtless statements or knowledge of a faked orgasm can even lead to even the strongest and most self-confident men experiencing psychologically induced erection problems. Men are therefore no less sensitive than women when it comes to their performance in bed, so communication should be the first priority in order to address problems gently.

Fact 7 - You may have a higher libido than your partner

In the public eye, it is usually men who are portrayed as testosterone bombers craving sex. In modern society, however, this illusion can no longer be maintained in any way, because the development towards sexual self-determination in recent decades has significantly changed the way many women see themselves. Even you won't necessarily be able to deny that in your relationship, you sometimes crave a bit more sex than your partner, who would rather spend a cozy evening on the couch.

Fact 8 - Men don't always feel like having sex

Another fact that may seem unbelievable at first, but nevertheless corresponds to reality. Although the underlying cliché is still true at a young age, as men get older, which is also associated with an increase in responsibilities, the temporary reluctance to have sex is widespread. One of the main triggers, as you would expect, is stress. We should therefore be as understanding in such cases as we would expect from our partner.
