When it comes to the vacation season, the same problem comes up every year. How can you avoid gaining weight on vacation? You can pick up some tips here that focus on active exercise and a healthy diet - without which, unfortunately, it's not possible.
1. go on foot
If your destination is only a few hundred meters away, why should you take the bus or even rent a car? Just walk. If the sun is blazing, take a big hat and put on loose white clothes. Don't forget to apply sunscreen. You can burn a few extra calories this way, stay slim and explore the surroundings of your vacation spot at the same time.
2. leave out the starters
Your vacation is a time to relax and unwind. This does not mean that you can stuff yourself with everything you can think of. It will be particularly difficult for you if the hotel has a buffet or serves set menus. In both cases, leave out the starters. This way you can also avoid feeling full by the time you want to eat the actual meal. Relax on vacation and fill your memory banks with impressions instead of new meals.
3. divide up your desserts
You want to have a good time on vacation and not go on a diet. That's completely human. You can also enjoy dessert. If you pace yourself and divide your desserts and eat slowly, you will have no problem with a moderate amount. Otherwise, you will not only gain extra pounds. Your stomach may also become uncomfortable. If you eat healthily, you will have achieved the biggest factor for a figure-conscious lifestyle on vacation and can lie on the beach without feeling guilty.
4. train in the morning
If you are on vacation for a week or two, you will miss these days in your training rhythm when you return home. It therefore makes sense to exercise even on the best days of the year. You should choose cooler mornings for this because of the heat. Of course, this will be a little more difficult after a long night of partying, but where there's a will, there's a way. Nobody is asking you to put in the same amount of work on vacation as you do at home. Go for a leisurely jog and take in the scenery. Go for a bike ride along the coast. Whatever you want to do, this will show you a different or new side to your endurance sport, which can also take you further. Who knows, maybe later on you will enjoy nature more often during your runs at home and listen to less music.
5. make salads your main courses
On vacation it's just like at home: use salads for your main meals. It may be very hot. You will therefore want to stick to light meals anyway. You can avoid stomach problems by eating lots of vegetables and salads. However, you should not eat salads too late in the evening, as they are heavier on the stomach and can disturb your sleep.
6. eat only twice a day
Most of the time you'll be lying on the beach or going on an excursion. In the heat, you won't want to eat much at lunchtime anyway. Instead of three high-calorie meals with high sodium and fat content, as is often the case on vacation, it's better to eat something solid only once a day in addition to breakfast. A good breakfast in the hotel with slow carbohydrates - so skip the white baguette sandwiches if possible - and plenty of protein will keep you full for a long time. In the heat, hunger will not be as noticeable during the day as it would otherwise be. You can make provisions for the evening and buy your food at the local supermarket. A salad or wholemeal wrap at the right time and a small dessert with oatmeal are good examples of a home-made meal on vacation. Incidentally, these dishes will also help you to avoid annoying bloating during your vacation.
Now you know a few ways to avoid gaining weight on vacation and stay slim. What are you waiting for? Make a fitness plan on the way - e.g. on the plane - so that you can have an equally healthy and relaxing trip.
