7 beauty and hygiene no-goes after training

Hygiene

Regular fitness training is like a fresh cell cure for your skin. It is obvious why so many women swear by exercise for beautiful skin. Sport revs up the metabolism, which in turn leads to a significant increase in blood flow. On the one hand, the skin is thus supplied with essential nutrients such as proteins and collagens. On the other hand, harmful and waste substances are removed. In addition, the significantly improved oxygen supply means that your skin shines with a fresh glow. However, in order for the training to take effect, there are a few things that need to be taken into account. If you disregard basic rules, you will achieve exactly the opposite and will have to fight with pimples and other skin impurities after the workout. Accordingly, you should avoid the following 7 no-goes.

No-Go 1 - Pack only one towel in the sports bags.

A towel naturally belongs in every gym bag. Even if this principle should not really be worth mentioning, there are always people who leave the gym without a towel, which is an absolute no-go, especially with regard to equipment hygiene. At this point we assume that you use a towel in any case. However, if you want to shower after your workout in the gym, a single towel is not enough. What's the point of a second towel, you may ask. Quite simply, when you use your workout towel to dry off after a shower, you are rubbing sweat, bacteria, dirt, and other particles from equipment and the gym floor onto your freshly cleaned skin. On the one hand, this is not a very appetizing idea, but on the other hand, it can also lead to the formation of pimples. So it's always better to pack two towels in your gym bag.

No-Go 2 - Exercising with makeup applied too thickly

Thickly applied makeup belongs everywhere else but definitely not in the gym. Why should it? After all, you're not there to look pretty, but to train and to buy your athletic goals with lots of sweat. The sweat is also one of the reasons why thickly applied make-up has no place in the gym. This is because during exercise, the pores of the skin dilate, which makes it much easier for any particles that are on the surface of the skin to penetrate and clog the openings of the pores. While a light BB cream is allowed, you should avoid camouflage and heavy foundations.

No-Go 3 - Constantly grabbing your face during training

Pimples can be caused during or after a workout not only by using dirty towels or applying makeup, but also by constantly grabbing your face. Just imagine what you touch with your hands in the gym during a workout session. And then imagine how many other people have also touched the dumbbell bars, equipment and pads, without you knowing if they care as much about hygiene as you do. So do you really want dirt and bacteria in your face? Since you probably don't want that, hands have no business on your face during a workout. And afterwards, of course, they should be washed with soap as well.

No-Go 4 - Do not take a cool-down phase

What few people know is that the body continues to sweat for quite a while after the workout. For this reason, it is always a good idea to take a short cool-down period after training to bridge the time until showering. If you get in the shower too early, your body may continue to sweat for a while after the shower. This makes showering relatively pointless, because the fresh sweat on the one hand starts to smell after not too long and on the other hand makes it difficult for creams and care lotions to be absorbed.

No-Go 5 - Do not go directly to the shower

Showering directly after a workout is, of course, a particularly sensitive issue. After all, not everyone feels like taking a shower at the gym. This usually has several reasons, because while some don't want to undress in the gym, others are simply disgusted by the showers there. However, if it takes you longer than 30 minutes to get home, you should consider getting over it. The longer you wait to clean your skin, the greater the risk that the mixture of dirt, sweat and bacteria will spread on your skin and cause pimples.

No-Go 6 - Do not wash your face after exercise

We have already addressed the issue of pores, which widen as a result of sporting activity and can therefore become clogged with dirt particles. Particularly during training, in addition to any makeup that may have been applied, flakes of skin also come off, which like to settle in the open pores. If you wait too long to clean your face after a workout or skip it altogether, this can - you guessed it - lead to the formation of pimples. To ensure that the dilated pores are thoroughly cleansed of dirt, you should cleanse your face with a special face wash gel. But don't wait too long, because then the pores will tighten again, trapping the dirt as well.

No-Go 7 - Forgetting to put on lotion

After your workout, you should definitely take the time to care for your skin with a cream or lotion. This is especially important because you sweat a lot during exercise and your skin loses a lot of moisture. You can give it back with the help of so-called in-shower creams and a good sip from your water bottle. The advantage of in-shower creams is that they are absorbed particularly quickly, so that you can quickly get dressed again after applying the cream and go home.
